Happy Hands, Happy Hearts!

We are excited to welcome a new group into the Cross The World family …. Heartwood Senior Living located in Crosby, which is close to our home.

Recently, Ernie visited with some of the residents and staff there and was thrilled to find willing hands to help us finish our crosses. Ernie and his ‘crew’ get together once a month for some dedicated work (and fun) time tying the message tags to the crosses and, because they enjoy what they’re doing, some of the residents continue to work independently on the crosses in between Ernie’s visits.

These residents are a wonderful group to work alongside; we are so very grateful for the opportunity to have the residents of Heartwood involved with Cross The World. It’s a win-win situation for all of us!!

We wanted to share some photos of their latest get together.  They are gettin’ busy!!

they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”

I wanted to share this poem with you. It was received some time ago and I reread it often, especially during those times when I question whether I’m doing enough to help others.

FRIENDS

If nobody smiled and nobody cheered
and nobody helped us along,
If every minute looked after himself,
and good things all went to the strong;
If nobody cared just a little for you
and nobody thought about me,
And we all stood alone in the battle of life,
what a dreary old world it would be.

Life is sweet just because of the friends we have made
and the things which in common we share;
We want to live on, not because of ourselves,
but because of the people who care.

It’s giving and doing for somebody else
on that all life’s splendor depends;
And the joy of this world, when it’s all added up,
is found in the making of friends.
