A Polka Fest and the Garms Family

A couple weeks ago, Ernie and I had the opportunity to experience a double header … a musical double header, that is. And, the experience filled our souls with resounding joy that we’re still enjoying today!!

Saturday night, we attended a Polka worship service at a local Lutheran church. Accordians, drums and a tuba filled the sanctuary with lively polka music while the congregation sang familiar worship lyrics to the energetic toe-tappin’ pace … total fun!!! The sanctuary was ROCKIN’!!  And, of course, what could finish that evening off better than brats on the grill and German potato salad??? We’ll be back next year!!!

The next morning, we were musically treated again as another church close to us hosted the Garms family. This talented Christian family of 8 travels from city to city around the country spreading the Gospel, relating personal testimonials and delivering engaging renditions of well-known gospel songs as well as introducing their audiences to beautiful compositions of their own. This was the first time we’ve seen this family perform and they were ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!  The entire congregation was totally captivated by their energy and presence; it is obvious they love the Lord!! I think they preform mostly in churches but for more clarification on them or to check their performance schedule, click HERE. Just a word: If this family comes close to where you live, don’t pass up the opportunity to be part of their audience!! I guarantee you’ll come away from their performance uplifted and FULL of His spirit!!!

Rejoice in His Goodness!!

A couple of folks shared some nice thoughts:

‘This group of ordered crosses will go to our Family Camp Retreat attendees.  We meet in CA this year and are a group of about 75 Christians who come together once a year to praise, refresh and renew.  The Spanish crosses will travel with a small group from our church, New Song Lutheran, to Ensenada, Mexico to a school and orphanage named Lantern Hill.’

Thank you for your ministry – Sheila

‘I really appreciate what you, Ernie, and all who volunteer are doing to reach people around the world with the love of Jesus. Seeing God’s hand in all of this is a beautiful example to me of His great love, and personally brings encouragement as He places things on my heart today in which to share through writing. What He has orchestrated through Cross the World is a reminder to me that He truly does work “all things together for good”. Thank you again for your labor of love. I look forward to meeting you one day.’

Many Blessings, Holly – TX

JoAn’s note:  Holly is the author of the message tag that accompanies each of our crosses and we were so happy to find her!  Her mother, Nancy, wrote a testimonial about our relationship, which we featured March, 2017.  To view it, click HERE.

In addition to Flag Day (June 14th) and the beginning of summer (June 21st), this month is the month we celebrate our AWESOME, MUCH LOVED FATHERS!

Prayer is a simple gift you can offer anytime, anywhere for ALL the dads in your life.  Spend a little time on Father’s Day thanking God for the blessing of their presence.  Pray for their strength and guidance. Ask Him for the ability to see and celebrate the good in them, offer them grace in their brokenness, and encouragement for the daily journey.  And remember the greatest DAD of all  … God’s fatherhood is an extraordinary gift to us. As we honor our earthly fathers in a couple of weeks, let’s celebrate even more that we are in God’s family and children of a perfect father.
