‘Let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.’
– Dwight Eisenhower
Have you hugged a Veteran today?
WE LOVE THEM ALL!!
I promised you pictures of the fall gathering of ‘Ernie’s girls’ from Heartwood Senior Living and here they are! We had a western/cowboy theme for this get together and everyone was given cowboy hats to wear. As you can see in the photos, there was a real cowgirl (from Oklahoma) present so she is the only one who knew how to truly wear her kerchief and hat, pressed straight and low on her head. But, regardless of how the hats were worn, everyone was a good sport and had a great time!
And, an ADDED blessing for us was a couple of visitors from the Presbyterian Homes & Services office located in Minneapolis (Presbyterian Homes owns/manages Heartwood Senior Living in conjunction with our local medical center). They wanted to see what the residents enjoyed doing so tagged along on the outing. I think they enjoyed it just as much as everyone and we hope to see them again when we get together for food and fun next spring!
Even our dog Lily joined in (well, she wasn’t such a good sport … she did it because Mom said so!)
We are so blessed by our Heartwood friends and enjoy their company so much!!!

The Christmas shopping season is on us. The stores are already advertising ‘Black Friday’ sales … yikes!! Before we get ‘crushed’ by the rush of all the things we think we need to get done for family, friends, pastors, shut-ins, etc., let’s take a few minutes to thank Jesus for His blessings on us. Let’s think about how good our life is with our Lord by our side; let’s think of His sacrifice for us and how our sins are washed away because of Him; let’s remember His birth, His life, and His grace. Let’s take this time to be thankful.
